    Well, the guy at the end may think it's Simone Biles, but there's bias in that. She's maybe the best gymnast. Probably, even. But that doesn't make her the "best athlete".

    Man, so sad that NBC doesn’t post these Titan Spirit montages anymore. I know the song rights are owned by Disney but just wish we could all stop thinking about money just once in awhile.

    Coming here after finishing the 2024 Paris Olympics, and I distinctly remembered NBC's closing ceremony credits and thought this was one of the best ones we made. But the SONG(S) at the end starting at 11:35 and 12:43 (unless this is one long song) I know this was composed for film but I can't remember anything if someone could help jog my memory.

    So apparently NBC produced and directed the Games, and all the opening and closing ceremonies as well, did they? And there I was thinking the Chinese produced them...

    • @CJ87317
      @CJ87317 22 дня назад

      They mean the TV show production. There's also a world feed that the IOC does, so NBC was just claiming credit for their "TV show" feed of the event.

    "It is unbelievably lovely. The city itself is a city like all cities, but from the window of my room at the Shore Inn, I looked out across water as blue as a sacred scarab from a Pharaoh’s tomb. Fishing boats moored like old men taking the sun. Great swooping gulls that dove to fold in atop masts and rode the wind currents to my balcony where they observed me with detached bemusement. Great stands of virgin timber rising straight up to snowy mountaintops where the sun catches the ice crystals in Omar Khayyám’s “noose of light” and sends it back shattering against the eyes. Clear. So clear you can see all the way up Queen Charlotte Strait to the Pacific, or so it seems. One can turn just so and see the world the way it was before concrete and neon and Styrofoam; and a gladness jumps up in the heart. Perhaps for this reason, Vancouver seems a happy city. Random people on street comers smile for no discernible reason. A movie marquee proclaims LITTLE BIG MAN starring CHIEF DAN GEORGE with DUSTIN HOFFMAN, and one understands small prides. The candy bars are nastier than American brands, but the wrappers are more polite. Dining is more leisurely than in Los Angeles. It might be possible to go to Vancouver for a long while and write good books there. The air, dear God, the sharp minty bright air!" Harlan Ellison, 1969

    "All Olympics are important to the host city. These games were monumentally important to the host nation, which happens to be home to one fifth of humanity." It's pretty easy, now, in 2024, to forget that China was such a rising power and culture so very few years ago.

    Kudos to Bob Costa not being subjective and politically influenced. Show respect to the Chinese people, it's diverse cultural history, and peaceful development. Unlike Adrienne Arsenault of CBC, was completely a disgrace on her opening remarks of China's Winter Olympic in 2022.

    Danny was a master scheduler too. He would always go to bowls against an elite team that had heavy graduation losses the year before. Penn State, Oklahoma, West Virginia, etc. Hatfield does not eval opponents before choosing his bowl and gets the best Cal Bear team of all time and the slide began. Clemson under Danny did not like playing teams that had pro style passing offenses but he usually done well though.
